Why We Should All Be Anti-Abortion

followyourdreamsAbortion has, is and will always be one of the most polarizing and controversial topics that has been debated in the last 40 years. The abortion issue has been the center of many political debates, often deciding the winner or loser for a political seat. And I've been involved in couple of heated debates concerning the abortion issue at my family's dinner table and at work.

It's one of those issues that you're either you're for or you're against and there is no middle ground. And there seems to be no right or wrong answer. No amount of logic or biblical teaching resolves this debate. It's a touchy issue that revolves around freedom and choice. Therefore, I tend to stay away from those debates. There is no winning or convincing someone of the "right" or "wrong" side of the issue.

But what I'm talking about today in my blog isn't about aborting an unborn human fetus inside of a woman but the abortion of your dreams and your potential. It happens all the time. People bury their dreams. They have gifts and talents but never expose or pursue them. They delay their dreams with the hope of one day retiring from their dull, boring job and then living their dreams. Or they let money, circumstances and other peoples negative comments prevent their dreams. So most of us settle and hope things change.
Pursue-your-dreams
According to Dr. Myles Munroe, throughout time the great and small works of individuals - be they paintings, books, music, poetry, drama, architecture, inventions or the development of theories - have affected the lives of many. All who have helped to inspire us - used their potential with a passion and refused to let circumstances dictate their future. Their released potential is the world's inheritance.

Each of us comes into this world with an assignment to fulfill. So your potential or gift is not about YOU. "The price of greatness is responsibility", stated Sir Winston Churchill. So fulfilling your dreams is about completing your assignment for this world and leaving a legacy for others to follow and benefit from.
Hope this helps and inspires you to pursue your dreams; whether it be this business, your multi-level marketing business or whatever business or assignment you were put on this earth to fulfill.

5 Questions You have to Answer to be Successful

Since I started blogging seriously in January of 2013, I've mainly discussing and writing about leadership. But for some reason, I decided to shift gears and focus on PURPOSE. Not sure why but for some reason I feel that I need to write about and perhaps in the near future, make an audio or video talking about purpose.

Before we can successful at anything, you have to know your purpose. If you don't you know your purpose, you many not do well at whatever it is you're doing. Whether it's online marketing, leadership, writing, teaching, etc. We are all put on this earth for a specific purpose. And it's very important that you find out what it is or you could be wasting your time.

Nothing is worse than spending your time day-in and day-out doing the same thing and not fulfilling your purpose and being buried in a tedious and meaningless job when you could be fulfilling your purpose and wake up everyday renewed and exciting and doing exactly what you were put on earth to do.

But before you can be successful and fulfilled, you must answer these five important questions:
  1. Who am I? This question has nothing to do with you what you DO. This question rather is about why you were put on this earth. What is your purpose? What specific reason you were put on this earth. Most of us don't know. We think we know but we go through life asking the wrong people and consulting the wrong sources. Some people find out earlier than others. When you answer this question, then and only then can you fulfill your destiny.
  2. Where am I from? Until you know where you come from, you don't know who you are. There is an old saying from the sankofa tribe in Africa that says, To know where you going, you must know where you come from. Your past speaks volumes about and is a part you who you are. Your past doesn't necessarily determine your future but your past is where you learned those important lessons that made your are the person today.
  3. Why am I here? Believe it or not, we came here to make a difference. We were not put on this earth to work, pay bills and die. Finding out why we're here can be a difficult journey and for some people it's a long journey. Many people never find out why they're here. But it's imperative we find out why we're here. If we don't know why we're here, it's like being misused or abused; similar to using the wrong tool for the job.
  4. What can I do? What is my true ability or potential? We're all born with gifts and talents. Many of us have more than just one gift or talent but only when we find out gifts and talents will we enjoy life and fulfill our purpose. You will be happy doing whatever you were called to do. You will have passion and will benefits financially as well because you're excited about what you're doing.
  5. Where am I Going? What do you hope to become? What is your destiny? Ultimately, these are the two most important questions you need to answer. We were created to life life with meaning and purpose. We were born to to something important. In order to fulfill your destiny, you have to find your purpose.
We were born to something the world needs. Nothing can bury you faster than a job you're trapped in. Until you discover your purpose, you can never maximize your potential. Your purpose is the most important thing that you need to discover.

Thank Your For Our Freedom

Memorial-DayAs a youngster growing up, I thought Memorial Day was just about grilling, drinking beer, listening to music and hanging out with family and friends. It never occurred to me that thousands of Americans put their lives on the line so I and millions of other in this great country could celebrate this day.

When I joined the Air Force on May 30, 1990, I found new respect for veterans and current soldiers who put it all on the line so people like me can enjoy the freedom most of us take for granted. I found out first hand how people served two and some three tours of duty in heavy combat.

And I saw first hand how soldiers came back with limbs missing and soldiers suffering post traumatic
stress disorder and soldier who served 20 to 30 years but still weren't appreciated or could find jobs.
Before joining the military, I had no empathy or sympathy for our soldiers. But as a veteran, there is a special place in my heart for those who served and continue to serve, foreign or domestic. Not only do I have special place in my heart for soldiers but I have a deeper respect for this day.

It's no longer a day or relaxation and fellowship but a day to commemorate the fallen.
I would like to take this moment to thank everyone who made this day possible and I would like to give a special thanks who are serving in Afghanistan as well as other areas of the world.

Does Godly Leadership Work in an UnGodly World

Leadership is leadership. Whether it's in a church, in a school or multinational corporation. Simply put, leadership is the ability to influence human behavior. But we all know it's not that simple. All of us have different leadership styles. Different approaches. And varying leadership abilities.

Influencing behavior in a positive unified way has never been easy and takes the right people with the right attitude to move people.

However, when leadership involves someone's religion or faith, leadership can take on whole new dimension. Or does it? Or do we assume that because someone professed to be of a particular religious faith, they will run a business or manage differently than anyone else. Perhaps they will but bottom line they have to lead so that an organization or business runs smoothly and at a profit.

Out of all the leaders I can remember, three professed leaders come to mind. All were hugely successful and were respected for acknowledging their faith. And of course all the leaders were sports leaders.

One was Tom Landry. The other Tony Dungy and of course Tim Tebow.

Tom Landry coached the Dallas Cowboys for 29 years. He compiled a record of 270-178-6 while winning two superbowls, 5 NFC titles and 13 Divisional Titles. He's the third winningest coach of all time. Coach Landry is also credited for inventing the flex defense, the shotgun or the modern day spread offense and the 4-3 defense. Landry's long tenure and success proves that his belief in God can work! If a Christian can be successful on the football field with people from all walks of life, Christian leadership can work anywhere.

Tony Dungy coached the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Indianapolis Colts. Tampa Bay was mildly successful and was know for the Tampa Two Defense. The Buccaneers consistently went to the playoffs but Coach Dungy was eventually fired because of the team's losses in the playoffs. However, Dungy would go on to coach the Indianapolis Colts and would become the first African American coach to win the superbowl. And he did it God's way.

The most famous of all Christian athletes has to be Tim Tebow. Tebow made a name for himself while at the University of Florida where he won two national championships and become the first sophomore to win the Heisman Trophy. He openly professed his belief in Christianity and is wildly famous and popular for it. At the same time, one could argue that he is the most watched and criticized athlete of all time.

That comes with the territory with being widely known and a Christian. Ridicule and persecution come with the territory.

Leadership is leadership. Whether you're a Christian or not, you have to be able to command respect and be able to influence people. And bottom line. You have to win.

You Have To Have Winners on Your Team

Even in the NBA, it takes more than a star win a championship
Leadership is simpler than we make it. When you think about it, we understood leadership even as kids. Remember choosing players for a pickup game of basketball or backyard football? Who did you choose? You chose the best players who could help you win. If we understood this as kids, why do we make leadership and teamwork so difficult as adults?

As children, we understood we can't win by ourselves. You not only need players to help you win, you need the best players available to help you win. The same is true with sports, business or any other venture that takes a team to win.

As I watch the NBA playoffs, there is a constant theme I keep hearing from the ESPN Analyst. "You have to have a surrounding cast on your team." No mater how great of a player or leader you are, you're not going to win in sports or in life without a supporting cast to help you win.

Kevin Durant has been scored 40 points the other night and has only rested 15 minutes since the playoffs began. You can see that he's obviously fatigued and his body is wearing down. He's doing all he can in his power to win but each night he's apologizing for another Oklahoma City Thunder loss; despite a great individual effort. Without one of his main teammates, Russell Westbrook, the Thunder lose the series four games to one.

As great as Carmello Anthony of the New York Knicks is, they will likely not make past the second round in the playoffs. When a leader scores just about all of the points and takes all the shots, that means the other teammates or supporting cast aren't able to contribute enough to win long term. This not only applies in sports but in business as well.

Even the "Basketball God" himself (Micheal Jordan) did not win championships by himself. He would score 30 and 40 points a night and even scored 69 points against the Larry Bird led Celtics one night. But it wasn't until Scottie Pippin, John Paxson, Bill Cartwright and Coach Phil Jackson did team success come.

So why do leaders try to do all the themselves and be Mr. or Mrs. Everything and wonder why they struggle at their businesses or careers? Everyone has to play their position or role and you hopefully you're zen master or know a zen master to lead the organiation.

What's your opinion on team work or leadership? Would like to hear your thoughts on this article.

What a Great Recruiter Can Do for You in Your Job Search

When you decide that it is time for a new challenge in your career and you feel like the only way to achieve your career goals is to move to a new company, a professional recruiter can provide you with the help and expertise that you need to find the perfect position.

But why go with a recruiter rather than searching for a new job on your own? There are a number of key ways in which a recruiter can help you to achieve your goals, and here are some of the most important.
Provide You with the Inside Scoop
A professional recruiter with extensive experience in your industry will be able to provide you with details that other applicants would never have access to when you attend an interview. For example, if you are on the lookout for health economics jobs and your recruiter has specialist knowledge in this field, they will be able to provide you with information about exactly what the company is looking for and what the managers really want from you, rather than just the basic information that is provided in the job description.

The reason from this is that they will probably know the employer personally and have a good working relationship with them. They will know the types of employees they have hired in the past and which qualities they have valued in previous employees. This will give you a significant boost when it comes to attending the interview.
Help You with Your Interview Skills
As well as providing you with the inside scoop on a particular company, a recruitment specialist will also be able to prepare you for the interview to make sure you have the best possible chance of success. They may be able to provide you with information on the person who will interview you, as well as in-depth knowledge about the company background, style and culture. They may even have a good idea about the types of questions you may be asked, and they could provide you with coaching as well to give you an even better chance of success.
Negotiate a Top Salary
Salary negotiation is an area that is very difficult to carry out on your own. However, a recruiter will take on this task to get you the best salary possible to ensure you get what you are worth. If you try to negotiate your salary yourself, you may end up setting it too high and scuppering your chances, or you may end up losing out and ending up with a salary that is lower than what you deserve.
Help You to Progress in Your Career
A recruitment professional will listen to you, understand your needs and help you to make the best possible progress in your career in the way that is right for you. They will make sure that you are not just getting a new job for the sake of it, and will be concerned about your job satisfaction. They will make sure that they understand your needs and goals, and then will help to match you to the most suitable positions.
Take Your Career to the Next Level
If you are ready to take your career to the next level, don’t go through the whole process alone. Find a specialist recruiter in your industry who can provide you with all of the above benefits so that you can find a job that is truly challenging and rewarding to help you progress with your career in the way that is best for you.

Five Tips To Help Lead Under Stress

Stress is part of Leadership
Rarely does leadership come under ideal or textbook conditions. Leadership by its very nature can be a daunting and scary proposition. The position usually comes with many stresses, challenges and situations that if given the choice, we would rather live without. But when you're dealing with people and forces out of your control, there is no getting around it, leadership will always be difficult even under the best of circumstances.

Leadership under NORMAL circumstances requires at least five important principles to be successful:
  • The courage to make difficult or unpopular decisions. As a leader, you cannot be swayed by popular opinion or the majority. Many times, a leader has to think beyond the moment and think about how his or her decision will impact the organization in the future and how it will impact the employees in the future.
  • The foresight to deal with problems. It's easy to look past "small" issues and write them off as minor occurences. But it's usually the small things that become big things when overlooked over time. The leader has to be able to avoid problems rather than waste valuable time solving problems if possible.
  • The courage to realize that you have to change. Change is difficult. And when you're trying to change and deeply entrenched culture or "how we always did it" culture, it's even more difficult. Even when changing for the betterment, people don't like change. But as a leader, you have to see and explain how not changing will destroy the company.
  • Get people to buy into your philosphy. Depending on the ability or personality of the leader, buy-in can be challenging but it's a must. Without the support of your staff and workers, success is impossible. You must constantly repeat your vision and explain how it will benefit the company as well as the workers.
  • You have to show some success. You can be a great leaders, have great communication skills, have a lot of courage and have a clear cut goal or vision but at some time, you have to show some success. Your wokers, staff, board of directors want to see some results. And usually they want to see results yesterday!
Leadership under stress usually occurs when a company is losing money (bad economy, theft, bad business practices, declining sales, etc.), experiencing high turn over or a negative company culture to name a few.

Leadership under STRESS requires even more even more skills and principles that a Leader to follow but address five here:
  • The ability to make quick and accurate decisions. Leadership under stress requires a leader to think like a chess player but move quickly like a checkers player. Usually a company is at the brink of closing the doors and radical decisions are needed to keep the company afloat.
  • The ability to make decisions without getting too wrapped up in his or her emotions. When a leader is leading a company that is failing or the outside climate is rapidly changing (i.e. economy, technology, funding), the leader has to make bottom line decisions. How is the purchase, merger hire, etc. going to benefit the company in the short or long term?
  • The ability to change your mind or decision. What's a good idea one moment can change the next. A good leader under stress has to be flexible and be willing to make last moment changes. Sticking to a decision just because it sounds good or just because you're the leader can be detrimental to your position and the company.
  • Just as thinking long term is imperative under normal conditions, it's even more important under stressful situations. It's easy just to cut staff and cut departments but usually that's not always the best answer. Cutting staff and positions hinders the company from being able to function properly or compete. Leaders under stress should not make knee jerk decisions that makes since in the short term.
  • The ability to turn the ship around fast. Turning a losing a company around is no easy task. You must make the right decisions and the right time. But because losing companies often don't have a lot of time to absorb additional loses, the decisions a leader make make almost instant positive impact. Almost like taking a football team that 1-17 and making them a playoff contender the next year.
Leadership under stress takes an above average leader who has years of experience, insight and vision. This type of leaders has to be unwavering under public scrutiny and popular opinion and sometimes have to go against the grain. Leaders under stress have to be able to make decisions that just don't make since to the average leader or worker.

In short, he or she has be creative and adept to change. Would like your thoughts and opinions on this blog. Let me kwow what your thinking. Leave your comments.
